The Environmental Analytical and Geochemistry Unit (EAGU) in the
Department of Earth Sciences, University of Queensland, provides
quality technical and analytical laboratory and methods development,
and environmental consultancy services to research groups and
individuals within and outside of The University of Queensland.
We specialize in trace elemental analysis of geological materials,
sediments, soils, fresh and marine waters and biota. We provide clients
with a wide range of total and partial sample digestion methods,
combined with inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy
and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry to provide a wide
range of element coverage, low detection limits and reliability.
The facility includes access to state-of-the-art ultra-trace Class 100
- 10000 clean room laboratories, and is equipped with a Perkin Elmer
Optima 3300 DV ICP-OES, Thermo Electron X-7 Series quadrupole ICP-MS
and a Perkin Elmer/Anton Paar Multiwave Microwave digester.
We also have the capability to measure total carbon (TC), total
inorganic carbon (TIC), and total organic carbon (TOC) using a UIC
CM5014 CO2 Coulometer combined with UIC CM5130
Acidification and CM5300 Furnace modules.
Please contact Dr Massimo Gasparon if you have any questions regarding the facilities, services or any specific analytical requirements.
